Complex systems are not merely many more of simple systems put together. They are more than that and require more sophisticated approach (Algorithm) to handle them.
As a child, you should learn by doing things yourself. You do mistakes and you learn from them. But, as an adult you can not AFFORD to use this approach of learning by doing and correcting mistakes.
The reason is simple. You will need some 300 or more life experiences (birth) to acquire sufficient knowledge so as to be at a level where you can contribute usefully to the present complex world.
The problem is that Nature behavior is SUBTLE and COUNTER INTUITIVE.
When, for example, you push an object it stops after moving some distance leading you to conclude that every object when pushed, stops but Newtons first law says a moving object will continue to move always. An oscillating pendulum must continue to oscillate forever because energy is a conserved quantity.
To understand Mechanics a large degree of abstractions and serious study is needed. There is nothing like absolute motion in Mechanics.
Of course, Physics is a difficult subject, especially if you wish to understand the concepts of Relativistic Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics.
But even subjects like economics which relate to our every day life the concepts and underlying principles are NOT obvious. The role of money or currency, like energy in physics is quite intangible and abstract.
Though energy and mass are equivalent, energy in the form of mass is hardly of any use. Energy when available as fusion as in Sun or chemical bond energy from rearrangement of electrons is so very meaningful. Currency in the form of say gold is some what like mass in Physics and it become useful to society only when it starts to circulate.
Another point is that trade is a win win type of game and not of usual type that we play in sports in which someone wins and other loses.
A single wrong decision of a large company CEO can put all the saving of his life down the drain. So in complex system you need to learn the art of learning from mistakes of others. For this you need to read more and more literature in the area of your interest.
If you DO NOT you will end up soon bankrupt, lose election or may even find yourself behind bars.
Take time before you decide, consult as many experts, never be in hurry. If still not sure take a deep breath and postpone taking the final decision.
